Walled Lake Northern celebrates homecoming
Walled Lake Northern kicked off homecoming weekend on Friday with the annual parade and football game.
The festivities started during school as each grade competed at the homecoming pep assembly. The senior class beat the rest of the school to claim the 2025 crown. Among those seniors was Haley Sutherby, who gave us an inside look at the fun with an Instagram takeover. You can watch it by clicking on the “WLN Hoco ‘25” highlight on our Instagram page.

The festivities continued in the evening as families and friends lines the sidewalks around the school. The Knights’ marching band led the way for the annual parade. Class floats, the homecoming court, The Walled Lake Wolves and each elementary school followed behind.
The 2025 homecoming king and queen were then surprised at halftime of the football game. Marissa Smith and Justin Reid were both shocked when they saw they took home the honor.
“It’s so exciting!” said Smith. “I’ve always looked forward to this, and it’s been my dream since middle school.”
“It was like an adrenaline rush,” added Reid. “I was really hopeful for it, I really wanted to be homecoming king and queen, (but) I didn’t really expect it.”
While the evening was a special one, the Knights’ football team fell to rival Walled Lake Western, 42-10, in the annual Battle of the Wall.
