Sixteen student-athletes, representing all three high schools, are headed to the MHSAA Division 1 State Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 31, at East Kentwood High School.

Six Vikings will compete in field events at the state meet. Gerrod Alexander punched his ticket in two events, the Discus and Shot Put. Dylan Akers (Shot Put) and Addison Wilson (Discus) will also compete in those two events. Giovanni Charles qualified in the high jump, and Case Lang and Shaylee McCain qualified in Pole Vault. Earlier this season McCain also set a new program record in the event clearing 11’6”.

Six Warriors are also earned their spot at the state meet. Rodney Endsley and Kayson Legg each qualified in three events. Endsley will compete in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and both the 4x100 meter and 4x200 meter relay. Legg qualified in the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, as well both relays. Rounding out the 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams with Endsley and Legg are Timon Dogan and Troy Temple. Temple will also compete in the 100 meter dash. On the girls side, Kira Havard will run in the 100 meter dash as well. Finally, Drew Woiciechowski qualified in the Discus.

Walled Lake Northern will send its 4x800 meter relay team to the state meet, which is made up of Finn Gammerath, Sam Fairchild, Chase Griffith and Nathan Bruss.
