Four elementary and one middle school student will compete in the Oakland Schools Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 14, at the Oakland Center at Oakland Schools.

Sarah G. Banks Middle School seventh-grader Abhianshi Sharma is our lone middle schooler in the field. She won the Bulldogs’ Spelling Bee correctly spelling the word “Cognitive”. All four elementary school students that will be competing this weekend are in fifth grade: Corina Dit (Mary Helen Guest), Rachel Hsu (Oakley Park), Jordyn Montgomery (Meadowbrook), and Mia Monson (Hickory Woods).

The Oakland Schools Regional Spelling Bee winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in late May.
